Ans. Jyotiba Phule opened 3 schools for the lower caste girls in Pune. He established the association named 'Satya Shodhak Society'. This organisation demanded Social justice for the lower caste people. He appealed to government to realise reasonable tax for poor farmers.

Ans. The caste system had become quite rigid. Sudras were treated badly in the society. They were not allowed to take water from the public wells and ponds. Lower caste people were treated untouchable. That's why social reformers targeted caste system to end these practices.

3.   National consciousness developed among the people and made it possible to make a new India.
