Ans. To get the freedom, Mahatma Gandhi launched Civil Disobedience Movement from 1930 to 1934 AD. He broke the salt law by making salt from the sea water in a village Dandi. People resigned from the government jobs and burnt foreign goods.

Ans. Gandhiji launched Quit India Movement on 8th August 1942 AD. Government arrested Gandhiji and other leaders. People attacked Police stations and government buildings. The British government failed to suppress the movement.

Ans. Subhash Chandra Bose founded the Azad Hind Fauj in Japan to get India free from Britishers. He raised the slogans ‘Delhi Chalo’, ‘Give me blood, I shall give you freedom’ and ‘Jai Hind’. But Japan was defeated in the Second World War. So, The Azad Hind Fauj failed to get freedom for India.

Ans. The period from 1919 to 1947 A.D. is called Gandhian era. Mahatma Gandhi Ji launched Non-Cooperation Movement (1920), Civil Disobedience Movement (1930) and Quit India Movement (1942) etc. to get India free from Britishers. He was the national leader during that period. India achieved independence on 15th August 1947.

 

Q 13. Explain the Non- Cooperation Movement launched by Mahatma Gandhi.

Ans. Mahatma Gandhiji started Non- Cooperation Movement against the British government in 1920 AD. On the call of Mahatma Gandhi, many people resigned from government services. Students stopped going to schools and colleges. People boycotted foreign clothes and goods. Gandhiji called off this movement in 1922 AD.

 

Q 14. Explain the revolutionary movement.

Ans. The revolutionary movement was started to get India free from British rule through revolutionary activities. Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev etc. killed British officer Saundrus to take revenge on Lala Lajpat Rai's death. Bhagat Singh and

 


Buttukeshwar Dutt threw bomb in Central Assembly in Delhi. British government hanged these revolutionaries to suppress the movement.

Ans. Gurdwara Reform Movement was started from 1920 to 1925 AD. to get the Gurdwaras free from the control of the ‘Mahants’. The ‘Akalis’ started Morchas like the ‘Nankana Sahib Morcha’, ‘Guru Ka Bagh Morcha’ etc. and got the Gurudwaras free from the ‘Mahants’.
